Bio

The Backsliders (often capitalized as THe BAcksliders) is a rock and roll band from Dallas, Texas.

Kim and Chris Bonner started THe BAcksliders mid 2005 under the moniker The Disasters. After playing out for a few months the band changed their name and released their self-titled debut in early 2006, with Nathan Adamson on drums and Nolan Thies, (Little Black Dress, Calhoun) on bass. Nathan was replaced by Taylor Young, (Young Heart Attack, Polyphonic Spree, The O’s) on drums but would remain a collaborator. THe BAcksliders recorded and released the 7 inch single Cry/I Got Mine in mid-2006. THe BAcksliders won Best Blues from the Dallas Observer music awards in 2007.The band then recorded “Your Welcome” in 2008. The sound of "You're Welcome" was more power pop oriented than the roots rock sound of the self-titled debut. Soon after the recording of "You're Welcome", it became apparent that Nolan would not be able to tour due to scheduling conflicts. Jason Bonner (Chris’ brother) was recruited to the band on bass and moved to Dallas from New York City. The band had previously recorded and performed several of Jason’s songs and collaborated with him on material from their self-titled debut and “You’re Welcome”. The band toured heavily on "You're Welcome". They performed at The Toadies first annual Dia De Los Toadies on August 31, 2008. The BAcksliders won "Best Hard Rock" from the Dallas Observer Awards in 2008. The group recorded the song "That's how we do Christmas" for an XO publicity compilation released in the winter 2008.

In January 2009 THe BAcksliders recorded their next album "Thank You" over a three-day period at January Sound in Dallas, TX. The album was released as a free download from their website to much critical acclaim.  It was at this time that drummer Taylor Young launched the O's. Due to scheduling conflicts most of the touring for "Thank You" was done by Nathan Adamson.  The band recorded "Christmas Doesn't Have to be so Bad" for another XO publicity compilation in the winter of 2009 with Grady Don Sandlin, (RTB2), on drums and Nathan Adamson producing. In May of 2010 the band released the single "Talk to My heart" (the companion video received substantial national air play on HD Net's Music Discovery). Around this time Jason left the group to pursue a solo career, performing a series of shows in 2010, some of which with Nathan on drums and Chris on bass.  THe BAcksliders won Best Hard Rock at the 2010 Dallas Observer Music Awards. The band moved ahead with Earl Darling (Spot, El Cento) on drums and Nolan back on bass. The next (THe BAcksliders from Dallas, Texas) album would feature both Earl and Nathan on drums and Chris playing guitar and most of the bass. After the recording of the album, Jason rejoined the band on bass and Nathan joined full time on piano. "The BAcksliders from Dallas, Texas" was released April 19th 2011. New live CD "Rock and Roll Show" was released August of 2011.
